BMW's N20 engine timing chain and a valvetronic motor replacement thereafter. To be able to replace the valvetronic motor, the fuel injectors need to be removed. We had to fabricate a special tool to extract the seized fuel injector from the cylinder head. In this case, the factory injector puller is not adequate to make the injectors budge from their hole. This is a common issue on BMW's N20 and the N55 engines. In this case I had to solve the issue by fabricating a custom puller to extract the fused injectors from the cylinder head, without the removal of the cylinder head assembly. We fabricated the puller from a hollow bolt and nut . Once the tip is shared off it's extremely difficult to get a proper grip on the stainless steel injector stem . I used a torch with a light flame to soften up the plastic around the stem and extract it all the way as far as possible. Then I place a large nut over the cylinder head to spread the load and slip down the puller as far as possible. Then weld two washers at the protruding stem and once cooled down, I will force pull the stuck injector out of the cylinder head. Needless to say we were successful in resolving the issue at hand, and we saved a lot of time and $$$$ for our client. Problem solving in a creative way is my job. Call us for more details.
